Hi, I am Janette Greenwood A.K.A Arcady Piper.
I have been playing the pipes for over 40 years from picking up the practice chanter and have been fortunate enough to have excellent tutors over the years for either band or solo piping competitions. It also helps to have understanding neighbours.

Over the years I have been privileged to have been asked to pipe at Weddings, Funerals, Hogmanay, Parties, Charity and Corporate Events.
​
I am based in Ayr with the majority of functions in the Ayrshire area, however don't let this put you off, I am available to travel to functions.
​

I not only play the pipes but make Kilts using the traditional method of handsewing. So if you fancy a new kilt, having one altered or just something made from tartan to add to an outfit pop over to my Kiltmaking pages on the menu above.

History
I began learning the chanter when I was seven years old progressing to bagpipes around the the age of nine.
​
At the age of ten I had competed in my first solo piping competition as well as competed with the pipe band at the Cowal Highland Games. My first solo performance at around this time was a burns supper at one of the local retirement day centre. I was hooked (especially, when I was being paid). By the time I seventeen I was rich, had enough money to pay for driving lessons, buy and run a car.
I continued competing in the pipe band world until 1996 when work commitments of a software engineer took me all corners of the world.

After thirteen years off, I began playing again with my local pipe band and at the age of forty-one started competing in the Competition League for Amateur Pipers. I must have had a weak moment when I signed up for this. It was not long before I realised how much I missed the piping world.

I have over the years had the honour and privilege to pipe at weddings and other functions and events providing a professional quality and personalised service.​
